Obsidian signs collaboration with Jinan Supercomputing Centre
Creating the basis for regional supercomputing network in preparation for Exascale machines
Jinan, Shandong Province, People’s Republic of China – January 4, 2017 – As the world waits for first generation of ExaScale class supercomputers, it is time to consider how these machines will be networked to provide greater access to users and data sets.
China’s National Supercomputing Centre in Jinan (NSCCJN) has entered into a collaborative agreement with Obsidian to develop very high capacity optical links between Jinan, Qingdao, Wuxi and other sites in and near Shandong province.
Exponentially growing supercomputer generations consume and produce ever larger data sets as they simulate larger and more complex phenomena with increasing scale and spatial/temporal resolutions.
